Good People By Patmeena Sabit

Credit: Good People By Patmeena Sabit

Overview

The Sharaf family is the picture of success. Prosperous, rich, happy. They came to this country as refugees with nothing more than the clothes on their backs. And now, after years of hard work, they live in the most exclusive neighborhood, their growing family attending the most prestigious schools. Zorah, the eldest daughter, is the apple of her father’s eye. When an unthinkable tragedy strikes, everyone is left reeling and the family is thrust into the court of public opinion. There is talk that behind closed doors the Sharafs’ happy household was anything but. Did the Sharaf family achieve the American dream? Or was the image of the model immigrant family just a faรงade? You Got This By Melissa Horvath

Credit: You Got This, Devotional

Overview

You Got This was written by Sweet Water Decor's Owner and Designer, Melissa Horvath. It's easy for women to get wrapped up in all that we do and then forget who God created us to be. Whether we're hardworking inside the home or outside the home or both we all need encouragement and grace to meet the demands life puts on us. This 90-day devotional helps women de-stress by focusing on how we're blessed. Each entry reminds us to tap into God's strength, develop a healthy view of success and failure, and learn to accept ourselves as God's unique creations designed for a unique purpose. Non-Profit Spotlight: Operation Paperback

Credit: Operation Paperback, https://operationpaperback.org

Operation Paperback is a national, non-profit organization, whose volunteers collect gently-used books and send them to American troops overseas, as well as veterans and military families here at home. Since 1999, they have shipped over 2.9 million books to countries all over the world. Their service members and their families make sacrifices every day for our country. It takes so little to let them know that they are appreciated. When you donate to Operation Paperback, you will let America’s military community know that you appreciate their service and their sacrifices. Credit: Operation Paperback; How to Help.

#Spotlight 8 Habits of Love by Ed Bacon

 #Foodforthought

Do you love enough?

Credit: 8 Habits of Love, Ed Bacon

Overview

A spiritual guidebook to living life through love and connection, not fear and isolation, by a respected pastor and a frequent guest on Oprah's Soul Series.

Reverend Bacon believes that every person can live a full and creative life if they can learn to move through troubling emotions such as fear, anger, and sadness to find the beloved within themselves. Readers will learn how insecurity can keep us from connecting with others, our loving self, and finding our own peace, joy, and creative power. 8 Habits of Love will show, through relatable stories, how to create a full, meaningful life by developing simple habits-stillness, truth, forgiveness, compassion, play, candor, generosity, and community-and by asking such important questions as: How do I know I'm living the life I should be? How do I forgive those who have hurt me? How do I talk candidly with difficult people? How do I best help others when they need it? And How do I let go of the past and move forward? Educator Seth Densen on Quality Education

"Education is the most powerful weapon you can use to change the world."

- Quote, Nelson Mandela

Advocate & Educator Seth Densen Joins Sasha in Conversation

Credit: Sasha Talks | Seth Densen

Meet Seth, an advocate and educator with over 20 years in social services and over half a decade in child welfare services. Seth Densen believes in the transformative power of quality education both on an individual level and a macro-level. Devoting resources and funding to education empowers future generations in communities to achieve personal fulfillment, success, and stability.

There are serious issues facing education today, including a lack of funding and resources for districts, schools, and teachers. While Florida receives the third-largest amount of federal K-12 education funding, the state government funds education at a lower per-capita rate. As such, Florida ranks 42nd in spending and 43rd in funding nationally. We can and must do better. He's not only a social worker but also an educator who's committed to advocating for educators and students of all ages in District 86 and across the state. Credit: Seth Densen
